The 2021 Tenuta Cucco Barolo del Comune di Serralunga d'Alba is a textbook expression of its hallowed terroir, benefiting from what is widely considered a benchmark, legendary vintage in Piedmont. Sourced from organically grown Nebbiolo vines in the Bricco Voghera and Cerrati crus, this wine undergoes a traditional 25-day spontaneous fermentation before aging for two years in large Slavonian oak casks (bâtonnage is bypassed here for natural settling in steel before filtration-free bottling).
The 2021 vintage balances Serralunga’s trademark architectural muscle with an incredibly polished, vibrant fruit profile.

    Aromatic Profile
    • Primary Fruit: Lifted, expressive notes of wild strawberries, crushed red cherries, and dried plum.
    • Florals & Zest: A brilliant top note of fresh rose petals, rose hip, and blood orange oil.
    • Savory Complexity: Classic Nebbiolo complexity anchors the bouquet, revealing layers of tar, anise, licorice, undergrowth, and a faint hint of clove and tobacco.
    Palate & Mouthfeel
    • Structure & Body: Medium-to-full-bodied. It showcases the signature "iron hand in a velvet glove" poise—displaying typical Serralunga muscle and structure without feeling heavy, harsh, or overly chewy.
    • Acidity & Tannins: Driven by an electric, bright acidity and structured by fine-grained, firm tannins that frame a core of tart sour cherry and red berry skins.
    • Texture & Finish: Savory and mineral-driven. A beautiful saline spine carries the mid-palate into a dry, persistent, and beautifully balanced finish accented by evolved undertones of dried herbs and dark flowers.
    Longevity & Serving
    • Drinking Window: Strikingly approachable and elegant in its youth due to the sheer balance of the 2021 vintage, but possesses the textbook bones, acidity, and tannic structure to cellar effortlessly for the next 10 to 15 years.
    • Decanting Recommendation: Highly recommended to decant for 1–2 hours if drinking early to let the tight tannic structure unwind and allow the complex tar and floral notes to blossom.
