Thibault Liger-Belair’s Au Leurey – Vigne de 1937 is an unusually serious Côte de Nuits-Villages, produced from old-vine Pinot Noir in a remarkably well-situated parcel just south of Nuits-Saint-Georges.

As its name suggests, the vineyard was predominantly planted in 1937. The parcel lies only around 30 meters from the Premier Cru vineyards Clos de la Maréchale and Clos de l’Arlot, with a southeast exposure and shallow soils over limestone bedrock. The warm 2020 vintage produced a particularly generous expression of Au Leurey. This is 100% Pinot Noir, showing concentrated red and darker fruit alongside plum, earth, subtle mushroom, spice and mineral notes. Au Leurey is a compelling example of how old vines and an exceptional site can elevate Côte de Nuits-Villages well beyond expectations for the appellation.
