Product Info
Terroir
Produced in Piedmont from Barolo made with Nebbiolo grown in some of the region’s most respected vineyard sites, Barolo Chinato combines the structure and character of Barolo with a centuries-old tradition of aromatized wine. The limestone and marl-rich hills of the Langhe provide the foundation for Nebbiolo’s signature acidity, tannin, and aromatic complexity, creating an ideal base for the infusion of herbs and spices that define this unique specialty wine.Winemaking & Technical Notes
Barolo Chinato begins with mature Barolo that is infused with a proprietary blend of botanicals, including quinine bark, spices, and aromatic herbs. Following the infusion process, the wine is aged to allow the flavors to integrate and develop harmony. The result is a fortified and aromatized wine that balances Nebbiolo’s structure with layers of sweetness, bitterness, and spice, creating a style that is both historic and distinctive.Tasting Notes
Deep garnet in the glass, the wine opens with captivating aromas of dried cherry, orange peel, baking spice, cinnamon, clove, and medicinal herbs. The palate is rich and velvety, combining flavors of red fruit preserves, cocoa, licorice, and sweet spice with a characteristic bittersweet herbal complexity. Notes of quinine, mint, and dark chocolate emerge on the long, warming finish, creating a layered and memorable experience.Food Pairing & Service
Traditionally enjoyed as a digestif, Barolo Chinato pairs beautifully with dark chocolate, chocolate-based desserts, hazelnut pastries, and aged cheeses. It can also be served alongside cigars or enjoyed on its own after a meal. Serve slightly cool or at cellar temperature in a small wine glass to fully appreciate its aromatic complexity.Cellaring Potential
Thanks to its fortification and aromatized nature, Barolo Chinato remains stable and enjoyable for many years. Once opened, it will retain its character far longer than a traditional table wine when stored properly, while unopened bottles can continue to develop additional integration and complexity over time.
