Product Info
The 2023 Domaine Petit-Roy Chorey-Les-Beaune "Les Beaumonts" is a fragrant and exceptionally poised red Burgundy. Sourced from a tiny 0.20-hectare plot of old Pinot Noir vines planted in 1962, winemaker Seiichi Saito utilizes meticulously sorted purchased fruit to craft a delicate yet deep expressions of this unique flat, clay-and-limestone terroir.
Tasting Profile- Appearance: A luminous, translucent ruby robe with soft garnet reflections.
- Aroma: Highly aromatic and perfumed right from the pour. It opens with a delicate bouquet of ripe cherry, red plum, and fresh violet, accented by orange peel, black pepper, and a subtle damp forest-floor earthiness.
- Palate: Taut, lively, and supple. Saito's masterful extract control ensures a velvety texture where bright, juicy red fruits marry with lively acidity and fine, persistent tannins.
- Finish: Persistent and long, characterized by a mineral, saline, and savory edge that underscores its incredible focus and energy.
Winemaking DetailsTrue to Saito's minimalist, low-intervention approach:- Whole Cluster: In the cellar, Saito “favours whole cluster fermentations and gentle cap management so not to over extract and maintain verticality and brightness”.
- Aging: Fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged for 17 months in old barrels (strictly zero new oak) to preserve the purity of the fruit and limestone minerality.
- Bottling: Left completely unfined and unfiltered with a minimal sulfur addition at bottling (only 23 mg/l).
Serving & Pairing- Service: Serve slightly cool around 14–16°C (57–60°F) in a wide Burgundy glass. Give it 20–30 minutes of air to coax out the delicate whole-cluster spice and floral aromatics.
- Pairing: Pairs wonderfully with classic Burgundian cuisine—such as roasted poultry, duck, or game birds—as well as savory mushroom risottos.
