    97pts The Wine Advocate
"Crafted entirely from old vines of Roussanne, the 2023 Chateauneuf du Pape Roussanne Vieilles Vignes matured in 50% new oak barrels and demi-muids from Chassaing and Dargaud & Jaegle and 50% in one-year-old barrels without undergoing malolactic fermentation. It exhales a deep, complex and elegant bouquet of honey, linden, spices, ripe orchard fruit and marmalade. Full-bodied, round and sappy, concentrated and textured, it’s dense and seamless with a rich texture and subtle, elegant, refined acidity that segues into a long, rich finish. With its substantial aging potential, it is poised to age beautifully." - Yohan Castaing

    Terroir
Sourced from exceptionally old Roussanne vines in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, this wine comes from vineyards rooted in the region’s iconic galets roulés—large rounded stones layered over clay and limestone soils. These stones absorb and radiate heat, encouraging full ripeness, while the mistral wind helps maintain balance and freshness in the Mediterranean climate. The advanced vine age naturally limits yields, producing fruit of remarkable concentration and depth while preserving the distinctive mineral and savory character of the appellation.

    Winemaking & Technical Notes
Produced entirely from old-vine Roussanne, this is one of the Rhône Valley’s most iconic white wines. The grapes are hand-harvested at optimal ripeness and fermented with meticulous attention to preserving texture and aromatic complexity. Aging takes place in oak barrels, allowing the wine to gain richness, structure, and integration without overwhelming the varietal character. The winemaking style emphasizes power, longevity, and layered complexity, resulting in a white wine built for decades of evolution.

    Tasting Notes
Deep gold in the glass, the 2023 opens with intensely aromatic notes of ripe pear, apricot, honey, orange blossom, and exotic spice layered with hints of toasted nuts, beeswax, and wet stone. The palate is full-bodied and opulent, delivering remarkable concentration balanced by freshness and mineral tension. Rich orchard and stone fruit flavors are complemented by notes of brioche, chamomile, and subtle oak spice, leading to an extraordinarily long, textured finish with immense depth and complexity.

    Food Pairing & Service
A profound white wine suited to equally refined cuisine, this pairs beautifully with lobster, scallops, roasted poultry, veal, and richly sauced seafood dishes. It also complements aged cheeses and dishes featuring mushrooms or truffle. Serve lightly chilled rather than cold to fully appreciate its aromatic range and texture, and consider decanting in its youth.

    Cellaring Potential
One of the great age-worthy white wines of France, this cuvée can evolve for 20–30+ years under proper cellaring conditions. Over time, its vibrant fruit profile will deepen into complex layers of honey, nuts, dried flowers, spice, and savory tertiary character while retaining remarkable structure and balance.
