One of the most limited wines from Artuke, El Escolladero comes from a tiny, high-altitude parcel in Ábalos, planted around 1950 on Rioja’s classic clay-limestone soils. Brothers Arturo and Kike de Miguel have become leading voices in the movement toward site-specific, terroir-driven Rioja, and El Escolladero is a particularly compelling expression of their approach.

The 2024 is built around Tempranillo with Graciano, fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured for 12 months in large 600-liter oak vessels. Rather than the richness and overt oak traditionally associated with Rioja, this is precise, fresh and remarkably focused: red and dark berries, floral and savory notes, spice and a distinct mineral character, framed by very fine, chalky tannins and a long, clean finish.

The 2024 vintage produced just 1,800 individually numbered bottles.
