    Terroir
Sourced from the Guardiola contrada on the northern slopes of Mount Etna, this Etna Rosso is produced from high-elevation vineyards rooted in ancient volcanic soils of lava, ash, and basalt. Elevations approaching 800–1,000 meters, combined with significant day-to-night temperature swings, allow the fruit to ripen slowly while preserving freshness and aromatic definition. Guardiola is regarded as one of Etna's premier contrade, consistently producing wines of depth, structure, and remarkable mineral expression.

    Winemaking & Technical Notes
Produced predominantly from Nerello Mascalese, the wine is vinified to highlight the character of the vineyard and Mount Etna's volcanic terroir. Gentle extraction and carefully managed aging preserve the variety's naturally refined tannins and vibrant acidity while adding subtle texture and complexity. The focus remains on balance, purity, and site expression rather than overt oak influence.

    Tasting Notes
Bright garnet in the glass, the 2020 opens with aromas of red cherry, wild strawberry, cranberry, and rose petal, complemented by notes of dried herbs, subtle spice, and crushed volcanic stone. The palate is medium-bodied and finely structured, with vibrant red fruit, lively acidity, and polished tannins supported by a persistent mineral backbone. The finish is long, focused, and elegant, reflecting the precision and energy that distinguish the Guardiola vineyard.

    Food Pairing & Service
An excellent partner for roasted lamb, grilled pork, duck breast, mushroom risotto, tomato-based pasta dishes, and aged Pecorino. Its freshness and savory character also make it a natural match for traditional Sicilian cuisine. Serve slightly below room temperature, and consider decanting for 30–60 minutes while young to fully reveal its aromatic complexity.

    Cellaring Potential
The 2020 vintage has the structure and balance to evolve beautifully over the next 10–15 years. As it matures, the bright red fruit will gradually give way to more savory notes of dried flowers, earth, tobacco, and spice while retaining the freshness and volcanic minerality that define the finest expressions of Etna Rosso.
