Terroir
The “Masseria dei Carmelitani” comes from vineyards around Gavi, in the hills of Piedmont, Italy. This area is known for its limestone- and clay-rich soils, which are ideal for the Cortese grape, lending it a distinctive minerality and elegance. Vite Colte’s plots sit at good altitude, benefiting from cool nights and a relatively temperate climate, which helps preserve bright acidity and aromatic precision in the fruit. The vineyard history is steeped in tradition, with the name referencing a Carmelite monastery that once maintained a farm (“masseria”) here, underscoring how deeply rooted this terroir is in local heritage.Winemaking & Technical Notes
This wine is made from 100% Cortese, gently pressed and fermented entirely in stainless steel tanks to maintain freshness and varietal purity. After fermentation, the wine stays on its fine lees for a period, adding subtle texture without overshadowing its crisp character. Vite Colte avoids oak aging on this cuvée, opting instead for a clean, modern approach that highlights the minerality, floral lift, and natural acidity of the Cortese grape. The style is deliberately bright, fresh and vibrant — a lean yet engaging expression of Gavi.Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Gavi presents a pale straw-yellow color with green highlights. On the nose, it's floral and lively: aromas of white flowers, citrus peel (lemon and lime), green apple, and pear skin mingle with a whisper of almond and crushed stone. The palate is crisp and focused — notes of lemon zest, white peach, and delicate mineral salinity run through clean acidity. There is a hint of savory herb and a finishing tension that reflects the underlying limestone soils. The wine finishes long, dry and elegant, delivering refreshing clarity and a gentle mineral lift.Food Pairing & Service
Serve this wine chilled at 8–10 °C (46–50 °F) in a white wine glass that allows its aromatics to shine. It pairs beautifully with seafood and shellfish — think oysters, shrimp scampi, or grilled white fish. It also works wonderfully with vegetable antipasti (especially asparagus), fresh goat cheese, or soft cheeses like robiola. For a more substantial pairing, try risotto with spring vegetables or light poached chicken. Because of its finesse and acidity, this wine is also ideal as an aperitif. Enjoy it now through 2028, while the vibrancy and mineral clarity remain lively. Name:
