    Terroir
“Vistamare” is produced at Ca’Marcanda, Gaja’s Tuscan estate located in Bolgheri, along the Tuscan coast. This maritime setting plays a defining role in the wine’s character. The vineyards sit close to the Tyrrhenian Sea, benefiting from constant coastal breezes that moderate temperatures, reduce disease pressure, and preserve aromatic freshness. Bright sunlight ensures full ripeness, while cool evenings maintain acidity and balance.

The soils are a mix of sandy clay, limestone, and gravel, offering excellent drainage and contributing to the wine’s mineral clarity. These conditions are particularly well suited to white varieties, allowing for precision, tension, and saline nuance. The 2024 vintage emphasizes freshness and vibrancy, shaped by the cooling marine influence that defines Bolgheri’s most refined white wines.

    Winemaking & Technical Notes
Vistamare is a coastal white blend led by Vermentino, complemented by Viognier and Fiano, each contributing distinct aromatic and textural elements. The grapes are harvested with a focus on preserving natural acidity and varietal expression. Fermentation is primarily carried out in stainless steel to retain purity and freshness, with careful temperature control to enhance aromatic lift.

A portion of the wine sees short aging on fine lees, building subtle texture and mid-palate weight without sacrificing clarity. Oak influence is restrained, allowing the wine’s coastal identity, mineral drive, and varietal character to remain at the forefront. The overall approach reflects Gaja’s signature balance of precision and elegance.

    Tasting Notes
The 2024 Vistamare opens with a bright, expressive nose marked by white peach, ripe citrus, and pear, layered with floral notes of acacia and orange blossom. Subtle herbal nuances—fennel, Mediterranean scrub, and fresh thyme—add complexity, while a faint saline note hints at the wine’s seaside origins.

On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied and finely textured, with flavors of lemon zest, stone fruit, and crisp apple unfolding in a clean, linear progression. Vermentino provides freshness and minerality, Viognier adds aromatic richness, and Fiano contributes structure and length. The acidity is lively and well-integrated, lending energy and precision throughout.

The finish is long, refreshing, and distinctly coastal, lingering with citrus oil, gentle floral tones, and a subtle mineral salinity. The wine feels poised and modern, balancing aromatic generosity with restraint and tension.

    Food Pairing & Service
Gaja Ca’Marcanda “Vistamare” Toscana IGT 2024 is exceptionally versatile at the table. It pairs beautifully with grilled seafood, shellfish, and crudo, as well as seafood pasta, risotto with herbs, and light poultry dishes. Its freshness and saline edge also complement Mediterranean vegetables, fresh cheeses, and olive oil–driven cuisine.

Serve at 48–52°F (9–11°C) in a medium-sized white wine glass to emphasize aromatics and precision. While highly enjoyable upon release, the wine has the balance to evolve gracefully over 3–5 years, gaining additional texture and savory depth with time.
