    Terroir
Sourced from the renowned Clavoillon Premier Cru vineyard in Puligny-Montrachet, this Chardonnay comes from one of Burgundy’s most celebrated terroirs for precision and mineral expression. The vineyard’s shallow limestone and clay soils, rich in fossilized marine material, provide exceptional drainage and contribute to the wine’s hallmark tension and chalky minerality. Situated on the gentle mid-slope of the Côte de Beaune, Clavoillon benefits from ideal sun exposure and cooling influences that preserve acidity and aromatic lift.

    Winemaking & Technical Notes
Crafted according to Domaine Leflaive’s biodynamic philosophy, the fruit is hand-harvested and fermented with native yeasts in French oak barrels, a restrained portion of which are new. Extended lees aging enhances texture and complexity while preserving the purity and transparency of the site. The winemaking emphasizes balance, energy, and terroir expression over overt oak influence, resulting in a wine of remarkable precision and longevity.

    Tasting Notes
Pale gold in the glass, the 2023 opens with aromas of lemon curd, white peach, citrus blossom, and crushed stone layered with hints of hazelnut, fresh cream, and subtle spice. The palate is vibrant yet deeply textured, offering concentrated citrus and orchard fruit framed by bright acidity and pronounced mineral tension. Notes of wet limestone, almond, and saline complexity emerge through the mid-palate, leading to a long, focused finish marked by elegance and persistence.

    Food Pairing & Service
A profound white Burgundy, this wine pairs beautifully with lobster, scallops, turbot, roast chicken, and refined cream-based dishes. It also complements truffle preparations and aged cheeses with subtle nutty character. Serve lightly chilled and consider decanting briefly in its youth to allow its aromatic complexity and texture to fully unfold.

    Cellaring Potential
Built for extended aging, this Premier Cru Chardonnay will evolve gracefully over the next 12–20+ years. With time, its vibrant citrus and mineral profile will deepen into layered notes of honey, toasted nuts, brioche, and savory complexity while maintaining the energy and structure that define great Puligny-Montrachet.
