    Terroir
Domaine de Triennes is situated in the Var, in the eastern reaches of Provence, where vineyards lie at moderate elevation between the Mediterranean coast and the Sainte-Baume massif. The estate benefits from a warm, sun-drenched climate moderated by cooling maritime influences and steady mistral winds that maintain vine health and freshness.

The soils are composed primarily of limestone and clay with pockets of gravel, providing structure and drainage while preserving aromatic lift. The 2022 growing season delivered healthy fruit with generous ripeness balanced by natural acidity, resulting in a wine that captures both Mediterranean warmth and refined structure.

    Winemaking & Technical Notes
Saint Auguste is composed of 65% Syrah and 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, fermented separately to preserve varietal character before blending. Grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel to ensure precision and fruit purity.

Extraction is managed carefully to achieve depth and color without excessive tannin. The wine is aged in French oak barrels, a portion new, for approximately 12–15 months. This maturation enhances structure and adds subtle notes of spice and cedar while allowing the fruit core to remain vibrant.

The resulting wine reflects a balance between southern generosity and Bordelais structure.

    Tasting Notes
The 2022 presents a deep ruby hue with purple highlights. Aromatically, it opens with blackcurrant, blackberry, and dark cherry layered over notes of violet, cocoa, and subtle cedar. Hints of dried herbs and crushed stone add complexity.

On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied with polished tannins and bright acidity. Dark fruit concentration is complemented by savory nuances of tobacco, black pepper, and light spice. The texture is smooth yet structured, offering both approachability and depth.

The finish is persistent and balanced, carrying dark fruit, herbal undertones, and gentle oak spice.

    Food Pairing & Service
Serve at 60–65°F and decant for approximately one hour when young. The wine pairs beautifully with grilled lamb, roasted duck, beef tenderloin, or Mediterranean-style stews. It also complements ratatouille, mushroom dishes, and aged semi-hard cheeses.

Its balance of fruit and structure makes it adaptable to both rustic and refined cuisine.

    Cellaring & Longevity
The 2022 Saint Auguste possesses the structure and balance to age gracefully for 10–15 years. While enjoyable in its youth with decanting, optimal drinking is anticipated from 2025 onward.

With time, primary dark fruit will evolve toward leather, dried herbs, and earthy spice. Properly cellared, the wine will gain additional nuance and integration, maintaining freshness and structure through the mid-2030s.
