Envínate's 'Lousas' Viña de Aldea 2024 is a captivating village-level red wine hailing from the storied Ribeira Sacra region of Spain. This enchanting expression is crafted predominantly from the noble Mencía grape, thoughtfully blended with an ancient field blend of indigenous local varieties that speak to generations of winemaking tradition. On the palate, this wine unfolds with remarkable elegance and complexity. Wild red fruits dance across the tongue, complemented by delicate floral undertones that evoke the Atlantic breezes that caress these historic vineyards. The wine's architecture is defined by refined, silky tannins that provide structure without overwhelming, while a striking, flinty mineral finish lingers beautifully—a testament to the distinctive terroir of this exceptional region. A wine of genuine character and depth, 'Lousas' captures the essence of its place with grace and authenticity.

    95 Points

Vinification: Hand-harvested grapes fermented with native yeasts using high percentages of whole-cluster maceration.
Aging: Matured for roughly 11 months on its lees in a combination of neutral concrete tanks and old French oak barrels without racking.
Tasting Notes: Aromas of black plum, dried rose petals, and herbal spices over a core of cracked rock. The palate is medium-bodied with fresh, deep fruit, fine-grained tannins, vibrant and long acidity, and a savory, ferrous, mineral-driven finish.
Primary Grape: 90% to 95% Mencía.
Field Blend: Co-planted indigenous varieties including Brancellao, Merenzao, Mouratón, Grao Negro, and Garnacha Tintorera.
Region: Ribeira Sacra, Galicia, Spain, drawing from plots in Amandi, Quiroga, and the Miño/Sil river areas.
Soil: Predominantly pure slate—locally called lousa—alongside granite and gneiss.
Elevation & Age: Steeply terraced vines sitting between 400 and 600 meters elevation, with a minimum age of 60 years.
Meaning: Aldea translates to "village" in Galician, marking this as a village-designation cuvée combining diverse parcels rather than a single vineyard.
