Sourced from the slopes of the Simonsberg in the Western Cape, “Babel” reflects a Mediterranean climate with warm days and cooling ocean influences. These conditions allow for full ripening while preserving freshness and structure.

The vineyards are planted on a mix of decomposed granite, shale, and sandy soils, which provide excellent drainage and contribute to the wine’s depth, texture, and mineral edge.

Winemaking & Technical Notes
“Babel” is a multi-varietal estate blend, showcasing the diversity of red cultivars grown at Babylonstoren. Each variety is harvested and vinified separately before careful blending.

Fermentation occurs in stainless steel, followed by aging in French oak barrels (primarily seasoned) for approximately 12 months. This approach enhances texture and integration while preserving the wine’s vibrant fruit character. ()
