  • Product Info

The 2023 Twomey Cellars 'Anderson Valley' Pinot Noir is a bright, balanced, and exceptionally fragrant release from the Pinot house founded by the Duncan family of Silver Oak. The 2023 growing season in the cool, foggy Anderson Valley AVA demanded patience, starting with a cold, wet winter that delayed bud break and continuing through a long, cool spring. A gradual warming trend in July allowed the grapes to achieve optimal ripeness slowly while preserving their signature crispness, resulting in a refined wine that emphasizes elegance, freshness, and structural depth.

    Aroma and Bouquet

The nose is lifted and highly expressive, layering classic cool-climate floral tones over warm oak spice:
    • Fruit: Vibrant primary aromas of ripe red cherry, wild strawberry, and wild black raspberries.
    • Florals & Confection: Fragrant notes of fresh violets and vanilla-scented rose petals.
    • Earth & Spice: Nuanced undertones of warm vanilla, mocha, allspice, toasted baking spices, elegant cedarwood, and warm forest soil.
    Palate and Texture

On the palate, this vintage showcases an excellent balance of restraint and mid-palate texture:
    • Flavors: A crunchy core of red fruits, alongside savory flavors of kirsch, black tea, and forest floor.
    • Body & Structure: A medium-bodied weight built around structured, apple-skin tannins and bright, persistent acidity.
    • Texture & Finish: The vibrant acidity gradually softens to reveal a beautifully polished, creamier mid-palate, leading into a long, layered, and elegant finish.
    Technical & Blend Details

    • Vineyard Sourcing: A multi-vineyard blend sourced from sustainably farmed estate sites across the valley, including Monument Tree, Bearman Bend, and Long Meadow Ranch.
    • Winemaking: Fermented with a small 4% whole-cluster component to enhance aromatic complexity and texture.
    • Oak Treatment: Aged for 10 months in 100% French oak barrels (24% new oak), with 6 months spent aging on the primary lees.
    • Alcohol Content: 14.2% to 14.3% ABV.
    Critical Acclaim

The 2026 release of the 2023 vintage has received strong marks from top wine critics:
    • 93 Points (Decanter): Praised for its consistency, crunchy red fruits, and beautifully fragrant canopy of vanilla rose petals.
    • 92 Points (James Suckling): Highlighted for its medium-to-full body, moderate acidity, and attractive layers of Amarena cherry and warm spice.
    Serving & Food Pairings

This elegant Pinot Noir is highly versatile at the dinner table. It pairs beautifully with roasted poultry, pork tenderloin, grilled salmon, earthy wild mushroom risotto, or soft, mild cheeses.
