    Terroir
This Pinot Grigio originates from the family estate of J. Hofstätter in the Alto Adige region (Trentino-Alto Adige) in northern Italy. The vineyards lie on steep slopes between approximately 250 and 900 metres above sea level, benefiting from a blend of Alpine and Mediterranean influences. The soils are described as “light marly soils which warm up quickly in spring,” providing good drainage and heat-retention, aiding in ripeness while preserving freshness. The cooler nights and bright mountain light contribute to the wine’s clarity, tension and aromatic precision — hallmarks of Alto Adige whites.

    Winemaking & Technical Notes
The wine is made from 100% Pinot Grigio grapes. The 2024 release shows an alcohol content of 13.0%. After harvest the grapes are gently pressed using pneumatic methods, the must is clarified by natural sedimentation, then fermented at controlled temperatures. A period of refinement on fine lees follows before bottling, allowing texture without heavy oak influence. The winemaking emphasizes purity, freshness and site expression rather than overt richness or new-oak character.

    Tasting Notes
In the glass the wine shows a bright straw-yellow colour with slight green-tinge, signalling youthful energy. Aromatically it delivers orchard fruit and floral elements: ripe pear, green apple, delicate white peach and hints of honeydew melon — layered with citrus zest and subtle spiced-stone minerality. On the palate the wine is medium-bodied, clean and well-structured with vibrant acidity. Fruit flavours of pear skin and white-fleshed peach are framed by a crisp mineral backbone and finish with tangy, refreshing energy and a whisper of white pepper or herbal note. The finish is persistent, bright and direct — a pure expression of Pinot Grigio with clarity of place.

    Food Pairing & Service
Serve chilled at around 8-10 °C (46-50 °F) to bring out its freshness and aromatic detail. Its bright acidity and mineral drive make it excellent with light seafood dishes such as lemon-buttered flounder, steamed mussels with parsley, or a simple ceviche. It’s equally good with vegetable-forward fare — asparagus tart, herb-roasted artichokes, or a white bean and basil salad. For cheese, consider fresh ricotta crostini or a mild goat-cheese. The wine’s clarity and precision also make it an excellent aperitif.
