  • Product Info

Opening with a commanding and intricately layered bouquet, this wine reveals itself through waves of aromatic complexity—soft spices mingling gracefully with luscious ripe black fruits, briny black olives, the distinctive warmth of Russian leather, and the wild, herbaceous whispers of garrigue scrubland. Upon the palate, the wine unfolds with remarkable concentration and architectural precision, showcasing dense dark fruit flavors supported by impeccably balanced layers that flow seamlessly across the mouth. The tannins are notably smooth and polished, integrated with finesse rather than asserting themselves aggressively. The finish is exceptionally protracted and mesmerizing, lingering with elegant spice notes that persist long after each sip, inviting contemplation and another taste.

Producer: Château Maucoil (certified organic since 2011 and biodynamic)

Vine Age: Made from some of the estate's oldest vines, averaging around 70 years of age.

Grape Varieties: Features a traditional base (typically around 40–50% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 12% Mourvèdre, 8% Cinsault) combined with remaining percentages of regional historical grapes like Vaccarèse, Counoise, Muscardin, Picpoul, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Roussanne, and Terret Noir.

Appearance: An intense, shiny, ruby-colored robe.
Nose: A powerful and extremely complex bouquet featuring notes of soft spices, ripe black fruits (blackberries, sweet cherries), crushed raspberries, Russian leather, wild garrigue (scrubland), and hints of black olive and dark chocolate.
Palate: Full-bodied, ample, and spherical with great density and focus. Rich dark fruit layers blend with earthy undertones and fine, plush, melted tannins.
