    Terroir
Sourced from select vineyard sites across California, this wine reflects a diverse range of microclimates and soil types, carefully chosen to build both richness and balance. Warm, sun-drenched days promote full ripening and bold fruit expression, while cooler coastal influences help retain freshness and structure. The blending of fruit from multiple regions allows for a layered, dynamic profile that captures both power and approachability.

    Winemaking & Technical Notes
Crafted in the signature style of Dave Phinney, “Advice From John” is produced with an emphasis on intensity, texture, and immediate appeal. Grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness and fermented in small lots to preserve individuality before blending. Extraction is managed to achieve a plush mouthfeel, and the wine is aged in a combination of French and American oak to enhance depth, spice, and integration. The final blend is designed to be bold yet polished, showcasing both concentration and balance.

    Tasting Notes
Deep garnet with a nearly opaque core, the 2024 opens with expressive aromas of ripe blackberry, black cherry, and plum, layered with notes of vanilla, mocha, and baking spice. Hints of toasted oak and sweet tobacco add further complexity. The palate is full-bodied and velvety, with rich, dark fruit framed by supple tannins. A touch of sweetness on entry gives way to a structured mid-palate, leading to a long, smooth, and indulgent finish.

    Food Pairing & Service
This is a natural partner for bold, flavorful dishes. Pair with barbecued ribs, grilled steak, or smoked brisket, as well as hearty pasta dishes or aged cheeses. Its richness also complements dishes with a touch of sweetness or spice. For best results, decant briefly before serving and pour slightly below room temperature.

    Cellaring Potential
Built for near-term enjoyment but with enough structure to age, this wine will drink well over the next 5–8 years. With time, its primary fruit may evolve into more integrated notes of spice, cocoa, and savory nuance while maintaining its plush, approachable style.
