    Terroir
Clos la Néore is a tiny, south-facing monopole vineyard located in the village of Chavignol, within Sancerre’s famed Monts Damnés slope. The site is rooted in Kimmeridgian limestone (“terres blanches”), a soil type renowned for producing wines of intensity and longevity.

Old vines—many approaching 50 years—are planted at low yields, resulting in highly concentrated fruit. The vineyard’s exposure and elevation allow for slow, even ripening while preserving acidity and aromatic precision, contributing to the wine’s signature mineral tension.

    Winemaking & Technical Notes
Crafted from 100% Sauvignon Blanc, Clos la Néore is produced using traditional, low-intervention methods passed down through generations.

The Vatans employ late harvesting to achieve full phenolic ripeness, followed by fermentation and aging in large, old wooden vessels (foudres), some over a century old.

The wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered, preserving purity and texture. Production is extremely limited, often from just a single hectare, reinforcing its cult status and rarity.

    Tasting Notes
Pale gold with luminous clarity, the 2022 vintage opens with a precise and layered bouquet of lemon zest, grapefruit, and orchard fruit, intertwined with white flowers, fresh herbs, and flinty minerality.

On the palate, it is taut and structured, with vibrant acidity and a strikingly linear profile. Flavors of citrus, pear, and wet stone unfold with remarkable focus, leading to a long, saline finish defined by purity and precision.

    Food Pairing & Service
A refined and mineral-driven white, ideal with:

    • Oysters, clams, and shellfish
    • Sashimi and delicate seafood
    • Goat cheese, especially Crottin de Chavignol
    • Light vegetable dishes

Serve at 50–55°F (10–13°C). Decanting for 20–30 minutes is recommended, particularly in youth, to allow the wine to open and reveal its full complexity.

    Cellaring Potential
Clos la Néore is renowned for its exceptional longevity, with the 2022 vintage capable of aging 20–30 years or more.

While intensely structured in its youth, it will evolve into a deeply complex wine, developing notes of honey, wax, nuts, and savory minerality over time—rivaling some of the great white wines of the world.

Mythic in reputation and profound in expression, the 2022 Clos la Néore is not just Sancerre—it is one of the Loire Valley’s most extraordinary wines, crafted for those who seek precision, rarity, and timeless elegance.
