    Terroir
“The Point” is sourced from estate vineyards in the Chelalem Highlands AVA, one of the highest-elevation sub-appellations in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. Perched above the valley floor, the Chelalem Highlands benefit from a distinctly cooler climate shaped by elevation, wind exposure, and significant diurnal temperature shifts. These conditions slow ripening, allowing Pinot Noir to develop complexity gradually while retaining freshness, aromatic precision, and natural acidity.

The soils are a defining element of the site, dominated by ancient marine sedimentary deposits, including uplifted seabed rich in sandstone and marine fossils. These well-drained, low-vigor soils naturally limit yields and encourage deep root penetration, translating into wines marked by mineral tension, savory nuance, and structural clarity. The 2022 vintage brought a relatively even growing season with moderate heat events and ample hang time, producing wines that balance concentration with poise—an ideal backdrop for Rose & Arrow’s site-driven philosophy.

    Winemaking & Technical Notes
“The Point” is crafted from 100% estate-grown Pinot Noir, harvested by hand in small lots to preserve fruit integrity. Fermentation is conducted with native yeasts, allowing the vineyard’s microbial environment to shape aromatic complexity and texture. A thoughtful percentage of whole clusters is incorporated, contributing lift, spice, and fine-grained tannin structure without overwhelming delicacy.

Extraction is deliberately gentle, favoring infusion over force to maintain transparency and finesse. The wine is aged in French oak barrels, with a restrained use of new oak that provides subtle framing and aromatic support rather than overt wood influence. Bottled unfined and unfiltered, the wine reflects Rose & Arrow’s commitment to minimal intervention and authentic site expression.

    Tasting Notes
The 2022 “The Point” opens with an expressive and layered aromatic profile, revealing wild strawberry, red cherry, and cranberry, accented by rose petal, orange peel, and subtle baking spice. As the wine evolves in the glass, secondary notes of forest floor, dried herbs, and crushed stone emerge, underscoring the vineyard’s marine sedimentary origins.

On the palate, the wine is finely textured and poised, with a silky entry that builds gradually toward a focused, mineral-driven core. Red fruit flavors remain vibrant and precise, supported by bright acidity that lends energy and lift throughout. The tannins are fine-grained and persistent, providing structure without heaviness, while savory undertones of tea leaf, earth, and gentle spice add depth and complexity.

The finish is long, refined, and quietly powerful, leaving lingering impressions of red fruit, floral notes, and saline minerality that continue to echo well after the wine has left the palate.

    Food Pairing & Service
Rose & Arrow Estate “The Point” Chelalem Highlands Pinot Noir 2022 is exceptionally versatile at the table, pairing beautifully with elegant yet flavor-driven cuisine. Roast chicken, duck breast, or pork loin with herb-forward preparations complement the wine’s acidity and textural finesse, while dishes incorporating mushrooms, lentils, or root vegetables highlight its savory and mineral dimensions.

The wine also excels alongside seafood with richness and depth, such as seared salmon, tuna, or halibut, particularly when paired with subtle sauces or earthy accompaniments. Soft, bloomy cheeses and lightly aged Alpine styles provide a harmonious contrast to the wine’s freshness and structure.

Serve at 58–62°F (14–16°C), ideally with a brief decant to allow the aromatics to fully unfold. While the wine offers immediate pleasure through its purity and balance, it also possesses the structure and complexity to evolve gracefully over the next 10–15 years, rewarding patience with added nuance and tertiary development.
