Brothers Arturo and Kike de Miguel have become leading voices in the movement toward site-specific, terroir-driven Rioja, and El Escolladero is a particularly compelling expression of their approach.

The 2024 is built around Tempranillo with Graciano, fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured for 12 months in large 600-liter oak vessels. Rather than the richness and overt oak traditionally associated with Rioja, this is precise, fresh and remarkably focused: red and dark berries, floral and savory notes, spice and a distinct mineral character, framed by very fine, chalky tannins and a long, clean finish.

The 2024 vintage produced just 1,800 individually numbered bottles.

99 points — James Suckling
96+ points — The Wine Advocate
96 points — Vinous

A rare, beautifully detailed Rioja that combines depth with restraint and should evolve exceptionally well in the cellar.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0708/8635/9236/files/BodegasyVinedosArtuke_ElEscolladero_Rioja2024750ml.jpg?v=1790268482
